There are lifestyles

that make it unnecessary

to wear pants around the house

but to drape them casually over a doorway

hung out like Rauschenberg's bed

yet within arm's reach

There is a state of mind

that makes it not required

to close the window blinds at sundown

or to take medications on time

if one can find them

in an unlocked cabinet

There is a time

when there is no concern

to count minutes, hours

days, weeks, and years

spent dripping into a divan

ruminating on a box of tissues and an empty glass
